On Thursday, April 30, 2009, the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) - Kansas City participated in a national night out for HRC Federal Club members and guests. The event celebrated the first 100 days of the Obama presidency and the goals and challenges of the next 100 days.
HRC initiatives for the next 100 days include mounting a strategic response to the possible court ruling on Proposition 8, encouraging the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, and dissolving the Defense of Marriage Act.
THANK YOU!
I would first like to thank all of those who were in attendance. We had a wonderful turnout and a great time was had by all.
Secondly, I would like to thank Trapp & Company, who hosted ther event in their newly decorated-for-spring showroom. Not only did they host the event, but also went above and beyond the call of duty, offering discounts that night to HRC members and much more. Attendees enjoyed a floral arranging demonstration delivered by Trapp and Company staff. The company has been providing floral and interior design and decor services to the Kansas City area for forty years.
Scrape the Plate also stepped up to the plate, and in a big way. They helped us out with some quite delicious (and beautiful) gourmet hor' dourves and desserts. Scrape is a local catering company that, if I do say so myself, has the best chocolate chip cookies ever (and that is, in fact, what they’ve named them)! So, thanks again! We recommend them for any event.
A big thank you to Darren Sextro, one of the Board of Governors at HRC-Kansas City, is in order. He graciously donated the wine for the event. Also, thanks to Starbucks on Main, who donated tasty coffee.
Gayle Grooms, Federal Club Co-Chair, deserves a big round of applause for planning the night out. Thanks so much, Gayle! Also, thank you to everyone else who helped out with the planning and details of the event as well as those who worked the night of the event.

Thanks again, everyone!
